Beverly Hills will get its second Metro subway station by spring 2027, as construction crews push ahead on the Beverly Drive stop along the D Line extension.

The station, located on Wilshire Boulevard between El Camino Drive and Crescent Drive, is part of the D Line's Section 2, which extends the subway from the Wilshire/La Cienega station west to Century City. The Beverly Press reported Sept. 10 that both the Beverly Drive and Century City stations are on track for a spring opening. The city's Metro Ready page confirms the same timeline.

Active construction at the site includes K-rails along the north and south curb lanes of Wilshire Boulevard, sidewalk and curb replacement on the south side of Wilshire between Crescent Drive and El Camino Drive, and sidewalk restoration on South Beverly Drive, according to a city construction update dated June 26. Two lanes in each direction are being maintained on Wilshire through the work zone.

Drivers should expect continued disruptions. The City of Beverly Hills posted a traffic advisory on Aug. 24 noting lane reductions at Wilshire Boulevard and South Santa Monica Boulevard expected to remain through Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The station's arrival is already shaping business planning in the Golden Triangle. The Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce included a new initiative in its fiscal year 2026-27 workplan: an economic development strategy for the Beverly Drive station area. The plan, reviewed at a June 2 City Council liaison meeting, calls for three stakeholder meetings and a written action plan to guide what types of businesses should fill the corridor once construction wraps. The Chamber also budgeted 12 monthly stakeholder outreach meetings to keep businesses informed about Section 2's impact, with Metro reimbursing the cost.

Roland Madrazo, an assistant resident engineer working on the Beverly Drive station, attended the May 8 opening of the Wilshire/La Cienega station to scout potential issues for the next phase, according to the Beverly Hills Courier.

The Beverly Drive stop will be the city's second D Line station. Section 1 of the extension opened May 8, adding three stops between Koreatown and Beverly Hills, including the Wilshire/La Cienega station. At that opening, Mayor Craig Corman called the project "an exciting new era" and said the D Line "will bring new energy, drive economic growth and provide a seamless connection between downtown and the Westside, including Beverly Hills."

Councilmember Lester Friedman struck a more practical note at the same May 8 event, saying he thinks the city needs to "ramp it up to make sure that the types of businesses that we want in that area are going to be there."

The full D Line extension spans nine miles and carries a $9.5 billion price tag. Metro projects 53,000 new daily riders when all stations are complete, according to Urbanize LA. The Westwood/UCLA and Westwood/VA Hospital stations are planned for fall 2027.

No specific month within spring 2027 has been announced for the Beverly Drive opening.
