Beverly Hills Fire Department and Police Department will host a free public ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, marking the 25th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The ceremony runs from 11 a.m. to noon at the Beverly Hills 9/11 Memorial Garden, 445 North Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills. No RSVP is required. Residents who cannot attend in person can watch a live stream at BeverlyHills.org/Live.
Free two-hour parking is available next to the Beverly Hills Library, according to Canyon News.
The city announced the event on its Facebook page, stating it will honor the 2,977 lives lost, remember those who responded, and stand in solidarity with families affected by the attacks.
The Memorial Garden is one of the only Sept. 11 memorials on the West Coast that houses an original artifact from the World Trade Center. Former Beverly Hills Fire Chief Timothy Scranton, who was working at Fire Station 2 on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, procured a steel beam from the wreckage and began planning the memorial in 2009.
"I wanted to ensure we never forget," Scranton said on the memorial's founding page, "and to educate our younger generations."
The garden was dedicated on Sept. 11, 2011, the 10th anniversary of the attacks. Annual remembrance ceremonies have been held every year since, according to the memorial's website. Videos of ceremonies from 2018 through 2025, each produced by Beverly Hills Television, are available online.
The memorial site describes the garden as a tribute to those lost and to the fire, law enforcement and first-responder personnel who served that day. It is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

The testimonial, posted on the memorial's homepage, reflects the ceremony's draw for families of victims who have relocated to the Los Angeles area.
