Wilshire Boulevard was closed in both directions near La Cienega Boulevard as Metro carried out final street paving for the D Line Extension's Phase 3 from Saturday, Aug. 29, through Monday, Aug. 31.

The closure, which began at 6 a.m. Aug. 29 and was scheduled to lift at 6 a.m. Aug. 31, affected the west portion of the Wilshire/La Cienega intersection. The city of Beverly Hills announced the work on its official Facebook page, and Canyon News first reported the details of the traffic impacts.

Wilshire was closed between Le Doux Road and the Wilshire/La Cienega intersection. Only right turns were permitted from westbound Wilshire onto La Cienega. Southbound La Cienega through traffic was closed from the Wilshire/Burton Way intersection to the Wilshire/La Cienega intersection, with detours at Clifton Way. Northbound La Cienega remained open.

Eastbound Wilshire traffic was detoured at Robertson Boulevard. Local access was maintained on Wilshire between Robertson and Le Doux, and businesses in the work area remained reachable throughout the closure.

The paving marks one of the final above-ground construction steps tied to the Wilshire/La Cienega station, which opened for passenger service May 8. That station is one of three new stops on the D Line Extension's Section 1, a 3.9-mile stretch from Koreatown's Wilshire/Western station through the Miracle Mile and into Beverly Hills.

Mayor Craig Corman called the station opening a new chapter for the city at the May 8 ceremony and told the Beverly Hills Courier the D Line "will bring new energy, drive economic growth and provide a seamless connection between downtown and the Westside, including Beverly Hills."

A June 2026 construction update from the city outlined a broader final restoration phase covering Wilshire between Stanley Drive and San Vicente Boulevard, plus portions of La Cienega, Hamilton Drive, Gale Drive and Tower Drive. That phase was expected to wrap up by the end of the third quarter of 2026.

Section 2 of the D Line Extension, which will carry the subway from Wilshire/La Cienega to Century City and include a Beverly Drive station, is under construction with a target completion in spring 2027.
