Beverly Hills will open its courts to players of all skill levels Wednesday, July 29, for the city's first-ever combined tennis and pickleball event, marking the permanent integration of pickleball into the La Cienega Tennis Center lineup.

"Game On! Court Celebration: A Racquet & Paddle Extravaganza" runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at La Cienega Tennis Center, 325 S. La Cienega Blvd. The evening caps Parks Make Life Better Month with Live Ball programming, racquet demos, and open play in both sports for advanced, intermediate, and beginner participants, according to the city's event listing.

All skill levels are welcome.

The celebration also serves as a showcase for PlaybyPoint, the city's new court reservation platform. The app replaced the old booking system on July 6 and offers online check-in, waitlists, guest management, and real-time facility updates, according to the city's Community Services page. A PlaybyPoint account is now required for all players at Beverly Hills courts.

The event lands after months of infrastructure work. The city added four pickleball courts by converting existing tennis courts at La Cienega and Roxbury Park, bringing the citywide total to 16 pickleball courts, as reported by the Beverly Press. La Cienega now features 13 tennis courts and 12 pickleball courts on resurfaced courts; Roxbury Park has three tennis and four pickleball courts.

The Beverly Hills City Council on April 21 approved hourly court fees of $12 for residents and $17 for non-residents for both sports. Those rates were lowered from initially proposed fees of $20 and $30 after community pushback at town hall meetings in March. "We listened, we heard and we've changed and we've gone back to what I think everyone can live with, and that's the important thing," Mayor Craig Corman said at the April 21 council meeting, as reported by the Beverly Press.

The Recreation and Parks Commission noted in June that the July celebration would mark the end of the city's pickleball pilot program and give community members a chance to try different equipment, according to the Beverly Hills Courier.

Residents can reserve courts up to seven days in advance through PlaybyPoint; non-residents get a four-day window. Annual membership runs $15 for residents and $30 for non-residents. Courts at La Cienega are open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
