Beverly Hills businesses can file a new form authorizing police to remove trespassers from their property overnight as the city expands its Metro Ready program.
The city's Metro Ready page details two tools aimed at Golden Triangle shops and other commercial properties. The first is a Trespass Authorization Form that lets the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) act on a business owner's behalf when the business is closed. If someone is sleeping in a doorway after hours, for example, BHPD can intervene without the owner being present.
The second is a 24/7 hotline run by the Beverly Hills Outreach & Assistance Team (BHOT). Business owners can call (310) 285-2468 for non-emergency help engaging with individuals experiencing homelessness near their storefronts.
The city rolled out the program months after the Wilshire/La Cienega Metro D Line station opened May 8. A second station at Beverly Drive is expected to open in spring 2027, bringing rail service into the heart of the business district.
How the trespass form works
Property owners or their legally authorized representatives must complete, sign, date and notarize the form before submitting it. Each property or suite requires its own form. Tenants may sign for areas under their lease but not for shared or common spaces.
Each authorization lasts 12 months. After that, a new form must be filed.
The form covers only the private property listed on it. Sidewalks and other public areas are not included. Business owners with questions about which authorization option to select can email [email protected] before submitting.
Broader public safety buildup
The trespass form and hotline sit inside a larger staffing and security expansion. According to the city's Resident & Business Guide, the City Council approved eight additional sworn police positions for Metro-related patrol, response and investigations. Six Community Service Officers will staff a new Public Safety Center at the Wilshire/La Cienega station, along with one maintenance worker assigned to keep the surrounding area clean.
Two LAPD officers and one LAPD supervisor are dedicated to the Beverly Hills station around the clock. Metro has also assigned two security officers per station 24/7. Security cameras throughout the station feed into BHPD's Real Time Watch Center.
The broader Metro Ready team includes BHPD, the Fire Department's Human Services Division, BHOT, Beverly Hills Ambassadors, Park Rangers and Public Works, according to the city's coordination page.
Mayor Craig Corman underscored the philosophy behind the investment at the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce State of the City address on Wednesday, Sept. 23. "Our city council has a philosophy that, if you don't have safety, you don't have anything," Corman said, as reported by the Beverly Hills Standard.
