Beverly Hills residents can fill an entire week with free outdoor programming, starting with the Farmers' Market on Sunday, July 19, and capping off with a soapbox derby race the following Sunday, July 26.
The weekly Farmers' Market opens at 8 a.m. on Civic Center Drive, running until 1 p.m. with California-grown produce, fresh-baked breads, juices, and specialty items, according to the city's event calendar. Free two-hour parking is available in the Civic Center garage.
Midweek, Shakespeare by the Sea brings a live performance of "Julius Caesar" to Roxbury Community Center and Memorial Park, 471 S. Roxbury Drive, on Wednesday, July 22, at 7 p.m., according to the Beverly Hills Public Library event listing. The show is free. The city encourages attendees to bring blankets, chairs, and a picnic.
On Thursday, July 23, the Concerts on Canon series continues at Beverly Canon Gardens, 241 N. Canon Drive, from 6 to 8 p.m. This week's performer is Joyce Partise, a Los Angeles-based vocalist who has played Brazilian Bossa Nova and jazz at Beverly Hills hotels for more than two decades. Her repertoire features classics from Antonio Carlos Jobim and Astrud Gilberto, and her album "My Brazilian Heart" was produced with Bill Brendle, former pianist for Sergio Mendes. The 12-concert series, which runs every Thursday through August 20, carries a $57,000 budget from the city's Community Services operating fund, according to a January 2026 Arts and Culture Commission staff report.
The week closes with the Miniature Derby Car Race on Sunday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Farmers' Market on Civic Center Drive. Participants race soapbox derby cars to see whose travels farthest and fastest, according to the city calendar. The race is part of the city's Parks Make Life Better Month programming. A build session for registered race participants is scheduled for Friday, July 24, at Roxbury Park, where kits will be available for purchase.
Because the derby runs during regular market hours, families can shop for produce and watch the races in a single trip.
