Calderon says he has served as mayor, councilmember, city clerk and director over the course of his public service career, according to his campaign website. He served on the Maywood City Council and resigned from that position on Dec. 13, 2017, as part of a settlement with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, according to a DA office document.
