Adva Lavie, the 29-year-old social media influencer accused of burglarizing wealthy men she met through dating apps, will return to Van Nuys Superior Court on Monday, Aug. 10, for a hearing that could shape the rest of her case.
Defense attorney Jeremy Lessem told reporters outside the courthouse on Friday, July 31, that his team may file a motion to place Lavie in a mental health diversion program, an alternative to trial that, if granted, could eventually lead to dismissed charges. Whether the court will entertain such a motion remains unclear.
Lavie, who also goes by Mia Ventura, was arrested by Beverly Hills police around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, near North Cannon Boulevard and Brighton Way on a Riverside County grand theft warrant, FOX LA reported. She appeared in court two days later and was ordered held without bail.
She remains jailed.
The Riverside County charge stems from an April 2025 incident near the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. A man who had invited Lavie to his home accused her of stealing an $8,600 Rolex watch, $700 Louis Vuitton aviator glasses, and an $1,800 Louis Vuitton cardholder wallet, according to an arrest warrant declaration filed by the Indio Police Department, as reported by MyNewsLA.
That case is separate from the six Los Angeles County felony counts Lavie already faces. She was ordered to stand trial in March on two counts of grand theft, two counts of unauthorized use of personal identifying information, one count of first-degree residential burglary, and one count of first-degree residential burglary with a person present.
Prosecutors allege that between 2023 and 2025, Lavie cultivated online relationships through dating apps and "Sugar Daddy" websites, posing as a girlfriend and travel companion to gain access to victims' homes in Beverly Hills, Westlake Village, West Hollywood, and Los Angeles, stealing cash, gold, credit cards, and designer items.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said on Aug. 1: "At her trial, we will prove beyond a reasonable doubt that this defendant exploited trust built through online relationships to gain access to victims' homes and steal from them."
Lavie had been free on bail with an ankle monitor and orders to stay away from alleged victims. The DA's office said she also faces a misdemeanor charge for allegedly removing her electronic ankle-monitoring device before her re-arrest.
Her fiancé, 64-year-old real estate magnate Stephen Cloobeck, was scheduled to appear in a Van Nuys courtroom on Friday, Aug. 7, for arraignment on three felony counts related to witness tampering and a misdemeanor count of making annoying telephone calls to an alleged victim's attorney. Cloobeck was arrested in West Hollywood in May and freed on $300,000 bond.
The Aug. 10 hearing will be the next public test of whether Lavie remains jailed or begins the process toward a diversion program. Residents who believe they may have been targeted can contact the Beverly Hills Police Department.
