A mystery buyer has walked away from Jennifer Lopez's 38,000-square-foot Beverly Crest compound, sending a high-profile Platinum Triangle listing back onto the open market at $49.99 million.

The unidentified tech and finance executive backed out of a contingent contract for the estate at 2571 Wallingford Drive, listing agents Branden Williams and Rayni Williams of The Beverly Hills Estates confirmed to Brentwood News on Sunday, July 20. TMZ reported on Tuesday, July 15, that the buyer had dropped a "substantial" deposit before exiting escrow. The reason for the withdrawal has not been disclosed.

The failed deal marks the latest setback in a two-year sales saga for the modern Georgian compound, which Lopez and Ben Affleck purchased for $61 million in May 2023. The couple first listed the property at $68 million in July 2024 after their separation. It was cut to $59.95 million by May 2025, reduced again to $52 million in September 2025, then delisted entirely in January 2026.

Lopez became sole owner in May 2026 after Affleck transferred his interest as part of an amended divorce settlement, taking no payment in return, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. The property returned to market that same month at $49.99 million, according to Realtor.com listing data.

At that asking price, the property would sell roughly $11 million below the original purchase price.

The 5.2-acre estate sits inside a gated enclave on a hilltop lot. It includes 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, a separate guesthouse, a caretaker residence, a guardhouse, an indoor sports complex with basketball and pickleball courts, a boxing ring, an infinity-edge pool, a 12-car garage, and parking for up to 80 vehicles.

When the property first entered escrow earlier in July, Branden Williams told the New York Post that the prospective buyer works "in tech and finance" and that "everyone knows his name." Williams declined to identify the buyer.

The listing's struggles mirror broader headwinds in Los Angeles's ultra-luxury market. In an October 2025 interview with the New York Post, Rayni Williams said the Lopez property was "bought too high" and that the divorce forced a premature sale. Branden Williams, in the same interview, pointed to Los Angeles's Measure ULA mansion tax as a drag on high-end transactions. The levy charges 5.5% on sales above $10 million.

Both former owners have moved on. Affleck purchased a $20.5 million home in the Sullivan Canyon area near Brentwood. Lopez bought a $17.5 million estate in Hidden Hills, formerly owned by musician John Fogerty, in February 2025.

The property is actively listed through The Beverly Hills Estates.
