North Santa Monica Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting Friday, Aug. 7, at 4 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 9, at 9 a.m. as construction continues on the $10 billion One Beverly Hills development.

The City of Beverly Hills posted the alert on Thursday, Aug. 6, one day before the closure begins.

Expect delays.

The closure is separate from the ongoing lane reductions at the Wilshire Boulevard and South Santa Monica Boulevard intersection, which started Monday, Aug. 3, and are expected to last approximately six weeks through mid-September. Drivers navigating both corridors this weekend should plan alternate routes.

A familiar pattern

This is not the first time the One Beverly Hills project has pinched traffic on North Santa Monica Boulevard. The city issued similar overnight closure alerts in June for concrete work (June 12–13) and for striping and installation of a construction-only crosswalk and signal (June 23–25). Extended lane closures also hit the same stretch in September and October 2025 for sewer and electrical utility upgrades.

The city's alert did not specify which blocks of North Santa Monica Boulevard are affected or what type of construction activity is triggering this particular closure.

The project rising next door

One Beverly Hills sits on a 17.5-acre site next to the Beverly Hilton, between Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. The project includes two condominium towers, an Aman hotel, retail and restaurant space, conference facilities and a publicly accessible landscaped open space. The Beverly Hills City Council approved the project in June 2021, and crews broke ground in February 2024.

As of May 2026, concrete and rebar were visibly rising above Santa Monica Boulevard at the site, according to Urbanize LA. The city's project page estimates construction will be complete in 2028, with some portions opening sooner.

Given the project's multi-year timeline, residents should expect additional closures on North Santa Monica Boulevard in the months ahead.
