Rodeo Drive's annual Holiday Lighting Celebration returns Thursday, Nov. 19 with a "50 Years of Brilliance" theme honoring the Rodeo Drive Committee's five-decade history on the luxury strip.
The free event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, according to the city's holiday festivities page. International vocalist and entertainment reporter Ali Ward will host an evening of live music, dance and street entertainment beneath the street's illuminated palms.
The Beverly Hills City Council approved a $667,575 purchase order for event producer J. Ben Bourgeois Productions at its Sept. 22 meeting, the Beverly Hills Standard reported. The Rodeo Drive Committee is responsible for raising an additional $45,000, bringing the total event budget to $712,575, according to the Standard. A separately approved décor package pushes the combined event-and-décor cost to about $1.28 million, the Standard reported.
Beverly Hills Mayor Craig Corman called the celebration a cherished tradition for the community and visitors worldwide, according to the city's announcement.
Kathy Gohari, president of the Rodeo Drive Committee, tied the milestone to the street's origins. "Fifty years ago, Fred Hayman understood that Rodeo Drive could be much more than a shopping destination," Gohari said in the announcement.
Two winners of the inaugural "Rodeo Drive Has Talent" search will perform alongside the headliners. Ortal Edri, a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, and Marianna Kriuchenkova, an eight-year-old vocalist, were selected from an open call that ran Sept. 14 through Oct. 12, according to the Rodeo Drive Committee's website. Featured performers also include vocalist Dani Armstrong, six-time Grammy Award-winning musician Daniel Ho and DJ Lady Sha.
The city's announcement says the evening will end with a countdown and fireworks finale. The mayor, city councilmembers and the Rodeo Drive Committee executive board will push the button to illuminate the street's holiday décor.
Rodeo Drive will close between South Santa Monica Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard, along with nearby stretches of Dayton Way and Brighton Way, from 9 p.m. Nov. 18 through 6 a.m. Nov. 20, the Standard reported. Alley access to city parking garages is expected to remain open under that plan.
Wine gardens and food trucks will line the street. Holiday décor stays up across the city through Jan. 3, 2027.
