Randall Winston, an architect and attorney, is running for the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees, Seat 6, in the Nov. 3 general election.

Experience and public service

Winston has held roles spanning government, architecture and law. He served as deputy mayor of infrastructure for the City of Los Angeles starting in 2023, according to UCLA's Institute of the Environment & Sustainability. Before that, he served as executive director of the California Strategic Growth Council. Under his leadership, the agency invested over $1.3 billion in transit-oriented affordable housing, land conservation and capacity building in under-resourced communities, according to UCLA's Institute of the Environment & Sustainability.

He also served as special assistant to the executive secretary in Gov. Jerry Brown's office, according to VerdExchange. Earlier in his career, Winston worked as an architect and designer at Foster + Partners and as an attorney at O'Melveny & Myers, according to UCLA's Institute of the Environment & Sustainability.

Winston said he worked as congressional staff in the U.S. Senate and the Office of the Secretary of Defense in 2005.
