Beverly Hills businesses looking to land contracts tied to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games can learn how at a free workshop on Thursday, Oct. 8, in West Hollywood.

The Path to 2028 event is hosted by the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and four Westside cities. The session will cover vendor registration, certifications, bid preparation and contracting opportunities connected to LA28 venues, the Olympic Village and hospitality operations.

Vice Mayor Mary N. Wells will represent Beverly Hills on a regional leadership panel. She joins LA County Third District Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, Culver City Mayor Freddy Puza, West Hollywood Vice Mayor Danny Hang and Santa Monica City Council Member Dan Hall.

Wells, who serves as a Beverly Hills City Council liaison for LA28 planning, said in a county statement that the city sees broad potential. "Beverly Hills understands the economic impact that major international events can bring to our region, particularly for businesses in hospitality, retail, dining and professional services," Wells said.

The workshop is part of DEO's countywide "Path to 2028" series, which brings business-readiness sessions into communities across Los Angeles County. DEO Director Kelly LoBianco said the goal is to get firms registered, certified and competitive before contracting opportunities open.

The Oct. 8 session connects to a broader push to spread Olympic benefits beyond Rodeo Drive. At an Aug. 25 Small Business Assistance Task Force meeting, members stressed the need to ensure economic gains reach businesses across all of Beverly Hills.

The Beverly Hills Courier reported that the task force discussion focused on the expected influx of visitors. City staff noted that several Olympic venues will sit near Beverly Hills, including Riviera Country Club, with events such as artistic gymnastics and fencing drawing crowds to the Westside.

Doors open at 9 a.m., with the program running from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Plummer Park Community Center, Fiesta Hall, 1200 N. Vista St., West Hollywood. After the leadership panel, DEO will lead a hands-on session covering how to navigate solicitations and access workforce and hiring resources.

Business owners can then meet one-on-one with city and DEO representatives. Registration is free on Eventbrite at bit.ly/pathto2028.
