Beverly Hills residents can drop off old documents, electronics and leftover pumpkins at a free recycling event Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Farmers' Market.
The drive-through event runs from 8 a.m. to noon at 9300 Civic Center Dr., according to the city's sustainability events page. Staff will help unload items. The event is first-come, first-served.
Everything is free.
For the first time, the city is accepting clean pumpkins for organics recycling. Carved pumpkins and jack-o'-lanterns are welcome, but all candles, paint, glitter, lights and other non-compostable decorations must be removed before drop-off. Plastic and artificial pumpkins are not accepted.
The shredding truck will take sensitive paper documents, including medical records, financial records, tax documents and pay stubs. Each person may bring up to 50 pounds of paper, bagged or boxed, with all clips, rubber bands and staples removed. Residents with more should contact AskBH.
E-waste has its own separate drop-off at the event. The city accepts computers, printers, televisions, cell phones, stereos and other household electronics.
Free compost and free two-hour parking in the Civic Center garage are also available.
