Drivers heading north on South Beverly Drive at Wilshire Boulevard are losing a lane around the clock through Thursday, July 16, as Metro wraps up sidewalk and bus stop upgrades tied to the Purple Line extension.
The 24/7 curb lane closure on northbound South Beverly Drive began Monday, July 6, and affects one of Beverly Hills' busiest commercial corridors, near the Golden Triangle retail district. At least one northbound lane and two southbound lanes remain open at all times, according to a City of Beverly Hills traffic alert posted July 2.
The work is Phase 2 of Metro's Sidewalk and Bus Stop Improvement Project. Phase 1 ran at the same intersection from Monday, June 22, through Thursday, July 2, meaning the Wilshire/South Beverly Drive crossing has faced Metro construction disruptions for roughly three consecutive weeks.
Pedestrians should expect intermittent sidewalk closures and detours during the 11-day construction window, the city said in a separate alert on July 6.
No detour routes announced
Neither the city nor Metro has published recommended alternate routes. The official alerts advise drivers to "anticipate lane reductions and allow extra travel time" but stop there.
The specific improvements being made have not been detailed in any public notice.
